YOUR MINIMALIST WARDROBE. CLASSICS, BUILT FOR LIVING IN.

THOUGHTS FROM CAVES FOUNDER JOHANNA HOWE - A FELLOW PERSON WHO WEARS CLOTHES :

" In the very early days of caves collect I decided to start building my minimalist wardrobe. I’d just graduated from university a few months prior and my wardrobe consisted of an ad hoc array of clothes I’d collected, through the various stages of ‘style experimentation’ that one might expect from a fashion student.

I’m a rather chaotic person at the best of times and I’ve found that creating order in my lifestyle and surroundings helps me find peace and order in my mind. I decided to apply this theory to my wardrobe and begin the journey of curating a wardrobe of well made classics that I felt good in.

I decided that the starting point was an enthusiastic cull of my existing wardrobe. My aim being to get rid of anything that, A. I didn’t feel good in, B. Didn’t wear, C. Didn’t work with other clothes in my wardrobe.

I told myself to be brave and that any regret I might later feel, would be offset by the liberation I’d feel in having a minimalist wardrobe and the easy dressing I hoped would follow. Happily, I was dead right.

I culled about 80% of my wardrobe (gifting everything to the second hand shop) and my morning frustration gave way to a speedy and liberated dressing experience every morning.

Following the cull, I was also able to clearly identify gaps in my wardrobe which over the years,  I’ve gradually been filling with pieces we’ve designed for caves and investment pieces from other brands I admire. "
